Client Brief

The connotations of being stylish, conscious and self-assured exemplify ZM as a brand that makes beauty and skincare effortless through its range of dermatologically-tested offerings. Their product range includes makeup, skincare, fragrances and serums. Studio ABD was approached to design the packaging for ZM’s range of cruelty-free cosmetic and personal care products targeted at the woke millennials who care about being environmentally mindful in their choice of brands.

The psychographic profile of the evolved millennial makes the new range of ZM cosmetics snazzy and appropriate for them. These consumers are socially aware, firm and unrelenting in their beliefs and values. The use of cosmetic products that aim to provide more than just beauty, and are just as secure as they are, would appeal naturally to these consumers. It is a win-win for the brand and the consumer as they both flaunt their cause! 


We decided to go peach for the outer pack cover creating memorable brand assets by speaking the brand story through hexagonal talking points. ZM’s story takes many fascinating and powerful turns with many product benefits to feature. We ensured all these were captured beautifully in hexagonal design spots that gave concise, lucid descriptions of each product benefit. We also employed a one-of-a-kind approach for sub-branding in the collection, using handwritten brush-stroked letters to provide the brand with a distinct personality. 


The collection of ZM’s range of cosmetics with the new pack designs fit well with the target audience of young millennials. The naturally flowing hand-written letters made a statement underlining the brand’s most significant asset of being free of chemicals.
